Dennis “Denny” “Dino” Loyd Cawthorn, 68, of Windsor Heights and formerly of Allerton, Iowa, passed away on March 6, 2019 at his residence. Dennis was born on March 17, 1950 in Centerville, Iowa to Loyd and Mary (Knapp) Cawthorn.

After graduating from Wayne Community High School in 1968, he attended Indian Hills Community College for two years.

Dennis served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974. In 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Catherine Kaye Williamson and to this union, their two children were born.

Dennis worked in sales at Custom Built Homes for over 13 years. He obtained his real estate license and worked for Iowa Realty, becoming the “Mobile Home Magnet.” Along with friends and sidekicks, he built a housing development in Bondurant, Iowa. He worked for Iowa Realty for 13 years. After their children graduated high school, Denny and Kaye moved back to Corydon, to begin a new adventure, Iowa Manufactured Homes. This business was Denny’s pride and joy. He retired in 2002, after becoming disabled due to a botched back surgery.

Dennis enjoyed fishing with friends and family, car auctions, sporting events, and time with family and friends. Denny was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Kaye; daughter, Stacy Cawthorn Hestness; son, Bradley (Amy) Cawthorn; grandchildren: Cordell (Amber), Colten, Liberty, Mercedes, John (Maddie), Jacob, Jordan and Jenna; great-grandchildren: Layne, Lana, Asher, and James; sister, Nancy (Jim) Jones; brother, Paul (Kris) Cawthorn and numerous extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Mary; and in-laws: Delbert and Elizabeth Williamson and many other close relatives.

Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tues., March 12, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., March 13, 2019 at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Corydon Cemetery.
